Ocean Racing World Championships Conclude in South Africa, Italy's Athletes Compete

The Ocean Racing World Championships concluded in Durban, South Africa, following two days of thrilling competition that saw over 750 boats take to the water. Italy proudly participated with a delegation of six athletes. In the SS1 Open category, Nicolò Razeto finished in 20th place with a time of 02:21:40. The race was won by France's Vilella (02:06:05), who triumphed over South Africans Notten and Hart. The SS1 U23 category saw several Italian competitors. Matteo Palomba secured 21st position with a time of 02:24:59, Mauro Tafuri placed 23rd in 02:25:38, and Riccardo Maccioccu finished 27th in 02:28:11. The top spot in this category went to Portugal's Leça Pereira (02:06:15), ahead of South Africa's Coetzer and France's Lanee. For the women's SS1 U23, Beatrice Candela finished 13th with a time of 02:57:54. The gold medal was claimed by Great Britain's Edwards (02:28:17), followed by South Africans Singe and Wilson. In the SS1 U18 Men's event, Leonardo Candela also achieved a 13th-place finish, clocking 02:26:29. The winner was South Africa's Mocke (02:15:55), who outpaced France's Stephan and Spain's Palmero. Further Italian participation included the SS2 Mixed U23 category, where Beatrice Candela and Riccardo Maccioccu teamed up to finish 13th with a time of 02:18:17. This race was won by South Africa's Smith and Clarke (01:59:40). Finally, in the SS2 Men's 80-89 category, Riccardo Maccioccu and Stefano Amicucci secured 12th place with a time of 02:55:47. The winners of this event were South Africans Arthur and Talevi (02:04:31).
