World Paddle Games announced: New flagship event to unite all ICF disciplines

The International Canoe Federation is proud to launch the World Paddle Games, a new flagship event that will showcase the full spectrum of paddle sport. Bringing together all 10 ICF disciplines on a single global stage – including the Olympic formats of Canoe Sprint, Canoe Slalom, and Kayak Cross, as well as Paracanoe, Canoe Marathon, Wildwater Canoeing, Ocean Racing, Canoe Polo, Canoe Freestyle, Dragon Boat, and Stand Up Paddling (SUP) – the World Paddle Games will be more than a competition. It will be a celebration of water, sport, and culture – a chance to create a meaningful impact for athletes, fans, and host communities. The event will deliver exceptional tourism and media value to host partners, while positioning paddle sport as the leader in sustainability, safety, and social impact. Hosting the World Paddle Games delivers unparalleled international exposure, positioning the host city as the world’s first “International Paddle Destination”. A global lifestyle moment, it gives amateurs a rare opportunity to race with the best elite paddlers on the planet. Set to be a unique immersive experience that features a city-wide festival, the World Paddle Games will embody the spirit of inclusivity, enhancing local engagement. Built around flatwater, whitewater, and ocean arenas within an hour’s radius, it will maximize accessibility and atmosphere, allowing spectators and participants to soak in the mood. The ICF is inviting National Federations and host destinations to express their interest in hosting the inaugural edition and to be part of paddle sport history. Expressions of interest should outline their proposed host location and facilities, demonstrating their organisational capacity and experience in delivering major events. A detailed bidding pack will be provided to shortlisted parties to support the development of formal proposals. Initial expressions of interest should be submitted by the end of the year to events@canoeicf.sport .
