United Arab Emirates' Rapid Ascent in Paddle Sports

The United Arab Emirates, a recent addition to the International Canoe Federation (ICF), is demonstrating remarkable progress in developing its paddle sports programs.

Early Achievements and International Participation

The Emirates Canoe and Rowing Federation (ECRF) has quickly established its presence on the global stage:

• An ECRF athlete participated in the ICF U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships in Szeged earlier this year.
• Two athletes are set to compete in the ICF Ocean Racing World Championships in Portugal this week.
• Four athletes have been dispatched to the International Nile Regatta in Cairo this week.
• Six individuals have enrolled in the upcoming ICF level three coaching course, commencing this month.

ICF President Praises ECRF's Vision

ICF President Thomas Konietzko expressed his enthusiasm for the growth of canoe sports in this emerging region.

Konietzko remarked, "It is truly impressive that the ECRF, despite being an officially recognized ICF Federation for less than a year, has already achieved such significant advancements."

He added, "We are profoundly impressed by the dedication and forward-thinking approach of this new federation. Our new Secretary General, Richard Pettit, and I plan to visit the UAE next month to discuss collaborative strategies for fostering the continued expansion of canoe sports in this vital area."

Konietzko concluded by highlighting, "This exemplifies how a nascent federation can effectively and swiftly contribute to the development of paddle sports within its territory. We extend our congratulations to all members of the ECRF."
