Sestri Levante to host fourth Tigullio Ocean Racing, combining international challenges with national youth titles

The picturesque Ligurian coastline of Tigullio is preparing to welcome the fourth edition of the Tigullio Ocean Racing event. Scheduled for October 17-18, 2026, in Sestri Levante, this prestigious competition is meticulously organized by Shock Wave Sports A.S.D. The weekend promises a dynamic blend of high-stakes international racing and crucial national championships for younger athletes, fostering participation across various age groups.

International Competition on Saturday

Saturday, October 17, will be dedicated to the international competition, featuring categories for Junior, Under 23, Senior, and Master paddlers. Participants will compete in both surfski and outrigger canoe events, including single (SS1, OC1) and double (SS2, OC2) configurations.

The international race course spans approximately 15 kilometers, designed as a downwind challenge between Sestri Levante and Chiavari. Athletes will either start from the serene Baia del Silenzio and finish at Chiavari port, or vice-versa, depending on prevailing wind conditions. Should adverse weather arise, an alternative 10-12 kilometer circuit within the sheltered Baia delle Favole is planned. This demanding race will test competitors' endurance, technical skill, and their ability to master the waves and wind.

Youth Championships on Sunday

Sunday, October 18, shifts focus to the rising stars of the sport. The Italian Youth Championship will take place, with young paddlers competing in single surfski (SS1) to claim national titles for both male and female categories. Additionally, a national race for Pupils and Cadets, also in SS1, is scheduled.
