This weekend, the 2017 International Canoe Federation’s Ocean Racing World Cup series makes its next stop in Portugal. The event is anticipated to draw many of the globe's top surfski athletes, all competing for the coveted gold medal.

The challenging 20-kilometer downwind race is set to unfold between the picturesque towns of Viana do Castelo and Esposende, located in northern Portugal. This leg promises to be an ideal continuation for what is shaping up to be a demanding international season for paddlers. Over 250 competitors from more than 20 different nations are expected to embrace the formidable conditions, including strong winds and powerful waves, as they navigate towards Ofir Beach. A significant prize pool of 20,000 Euros awaits the top performers.
