Successful Ocean Racing Event in Policastro Bussentino

Policastro Bussentino reaffirmed its status as a premier destination for Ocean Racing enthusiasts on Sunday, April 27. The picturesque Cilento locale proudly hosted the Italian Master Championship alongside a National Race for Senior, Junior, Cadet (Allievi), and Youth (Ragazzi) categories. The event, meticulously organized by Polisportiva Cilento, attracted an impressive turnout of 72 registered athletes representing 19 distinct clubs.

Competitors were treated to ideal conditions, benefiting from the beautifully calm waters set against the majestic backdrop of the Gulf of Policastro. This particular specialty serves as an excellent preparatory discipline for other forms of canoe sprint, adding to its significance. A notable highlight was the exceptionally high youth participation, with a substantial number of young athletes competing across their respective categories.

Master Category Victories

  • In the Master A men's SS1 event, Daniele De Franco (Polisportiva Cilento) secured victory with a time of 44'16.8.
  • Antonio Gesualdi (LNI Milano) triumphed in the Master B category, finishing in 42'18.0.
  • The Master C women's race saw Liliana de Felice (CC Napoli) claim first place with a time of 54'20.7.
  • For the Master C men's, Mariano Bifano (Polisportiva Cilento) was victorious in 41'34.8.
  • Nicola Gesualdi (LNI Milano) dominated the OC1 Master C category, recording a time of 1:01'18.4.
