British paracanoeist Tim Lodge has been chosen as the new chair of the International Canoe Federation (ICF) Athlete Committee. This significant appointment sees Lodge taking on a crucial role in representing athletes globally within the sport.
His election was decided by his fellow committee members, marking a transition from Danish sprint and marathon paddler Henriette Engel Hansen, who served in the position for two years. Lodge's immediate engagement will be attending the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Athlete Forum, scheduled for this weekend in Lausanne, Switzerland.
With a canoeing career spanning back to 1981, the 45-year-old Lodge brings a wealth of experience across numerous ICF disciplines. His involvement includes canoe marathon, sprint, dragon boat, whitewater, surf ski, and paracanoe. This extensive background provides him with a comprehensive understanding of the sport's diverse facets.
Prior to this international role, Lodge served as an athlete representative for British Canoeing and was also a member of the British Athletes Committee, further solidifying his credentials in athlete advocacy.
