2025 Ocean Racing World Championships in Durban

The pinnacle of the 2025 Ocean Racing season is set to unfold in Durban, South Africa, on October 18th and 19th. These two days will host the World Championships, where Italy will be a prominent contender across the Senior, Junior, and Under 23 categories.

Italy's National Squad

A strong contingent of six athletes has been selected by national coaches Mariano Bifano and Giovanni Saperdi to represent Italy. The team comprises:

• Nicolò Razeto (CC Nervi) will compete for a medal in the men's Open SS1 event.
• In the men's Under 23 category, Italy will be represented by Massimo Palomba (Canottieri Padova), Mauro Tafuri (CN Posillipo), and Riccardo Maccioccu (Shock Wave Sports).
• Leonardo Candela (Idroscalo Club) is set to participate in the Junior division.
• The women's Under 23 SS1 event will feature Beatrice Candela (Idroscalo Club).
• For the Under 23 mixed SS2 race, the Italian duo will be Riccardo Maccioccu and Beatrice Candela.

Competition Schedule

The championship action kicks off on Saturday, October 18th, with the SS2 category trials. Italian athletes will then vie for medals on Sunday, October 19th, when the SS1 specialty awards will be decided.
