The International Canoe Federation (ICF) Board has confirmed host locations for numerous world cups and world championships across eight of its ten disciplines, spanning from 2024 to 2028.
Intense bidding battles characterized the selection process for the 2028 Canoe Marathon World Championships, awarded to Banyoles, Spain, and the 2028 Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships, secured by Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal. Federation presidents expressed satisfaction, highlighting venue suitability and ICF's trust.
Key Event Allocations
- 2026 Canoe Slalom World Cups: Vaires-sur-Marne (France), Augsburg (Germany), La Seu (Spain), Prague (Czechia), Tacen (Slovenia).
- 2028 Canoe Slalom Junior/U23 World Championships: Krakow.
- 2026 Canoe Sprint World Cups: Brandenburg (Germany, with Paracanoe), Bratislava (Slovakia), Szeged (Hungary).
- 2025 Canoe Sprint Masters World Championships: Montemor-o-Velho (Portugal).
- ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships (2025-2028): Durban (2025), Vila Joiosa (2026), Tahiti (2027), Cherbourg (2028). Reunion hosts a 2024 World Cup.
- Stand Up Paddling (SUP) World Championships: Abu Dhabi (UAE, 2025), Sicily (Italy, 2026). Sarasota (USA) moves to 2027.
- 2025 Wildwater Canoeing World Championships: Ceske Budejovice (Czechia) and Solkan (Slovenia, Junior/U23).
- 2028 Canoe Polo World Championships: Vejen (Denmark).
