Global circuit of four ICF Canoe Ocean Racing world cups set for 2026

The International Canoe Federation (ICF) has unveiled plans for four Canoe Ocean Racing world cup events across the globe in 2026. This expansion aims to provide elite surfski athletes with a robust international circuit, boosting athlete development and the sport's global profile.

The ICF Board has approved these events in:

• Brazil (Molokabra)
• France (Reunion)
• Malaysia (Kuantan, Pahang)
• Tahiti

This initiative marks a new era for Canoe Ocean Racing. Marian Sarbu, Chair of the ICF Canoe Ocean Racing Committee, noted the 2026 circuit promises substantial athletic opportunities and unprecedented visibility.

Event Highlights and Schedule

Two events have confirmed dates:

• Tahiti: August 1-2
• Reunion: November 9-15

Each host offers unique contributions:

• The season's opening event in Malaysia (Kuantan, Pahang) will be managed by experienced national federation organizers, highlighting rapid growth in Asia.
• Tahiti will host a world cup and serve as the official test event for the 2027 World Championships. Organizers show strong commitment with a budget over 500,000 EUR and large-scale boat tender prep.
• In the Americas, Molokabra, Brazil, hosts the region's premier race. Known for exceptional conditions and a growing international field, Molokabra sets new benchmarks for athlete experience.
• The season concludes in Reunion, France. With proven organizers and excellent racing conditions, Reunion also aims to bid for future World Championships, strengthening its international standing.

This global series will elevate Canoe Ocean Racing, offering a thrilling calendar for athletes and fans.
