European Canoe Association appoints new technical committee leaders

Following a recent online gathering of its Board of Directors, the European Canoe Association (ECA) has officially announced the selection of new leaders for its various technical committees.

Among the newly appointed individuals, several already serve as chairs for International Canoe Federation (ICF) Standing Committees. These include:

• Ruud Heijselaar (Netherlands) for Canoe Marathon
• Noemi Horvath (Hungary) for Stand Up Paddling (SUP)
• Manuela Gawehn (Germany) for Wildwater Canoeing
• Terry Best (Great Britain) for Canoe Freestyle
• Jane Gibson (Great Britain) for Anti-doping and Medical

These individuals will now also oversee their respective committees at the continental level within the ECA. Additional appointments include:

• Jovana Stanojevic (Serbia) for Canoe Sprint
• Colin Woodgate (Great Britain) for Canoe Slalom
• Robert Weisz (Hungary) for Paracanoe
• Alberto Baroni (Italy) for Canoe Polo
• Roberto Liberato (Switzerland) for Canoe Ocean Racing
• Ulrike Schreck (Germany) for Dragon Boat

Furthermore, Gabriele Koch from Germany has been named the chair of the ECA Recreational Committee.

The process for these appointments began with a call for candidates, which saw 20 national federations submit a total of 51 nominations for both chair and member positions across the ECA's technical committees. The deadline for these submissions was December 10.

The ECA Board of Directors then conducted a confidential ballot to finalize the selection of the new chairs.

The newly appointed chairs are now tasked with proposing the members for their respective committees, with these recommendations subject to validation by the ECA Board.
