The 18th Ohana Mana Cup in Cagliari

Cagliari's late summer season recently played host to the 18th edition of the Ohana Mana Cup, Italy's most enduring and esteemed ocean racing competition. Organized by the ASD Kauna Team, this year's event, held in the beautiful waters of Sardinia, attracted a significant number of participants. Despite the calm conditions and a notable absence of strong winds—elements that have historically contributed to the technical and competitive intensity of the races—the competition remained engaging for all involved.

Race Highlights and Winners

The classic 19-kilometer course, stretching from Geremeas to Poetto, saw intense competition across various categories.

• In the Men's SS1 division, Czech athlete Jakub Zavrel claimed the overall victory. He finished ahead of Italy's Massimo Palomba, who also secured the top spot among the Under 23 competitors, and Hungary's Adam Varga. Close behind the podium finishers were two other promising Under 23 talents, Jakub Sindel and Riccardo Maccioccu.
• The Women's SS1 race witnessed a dominant performance and a repeat win for the Czech Republic, with Katerina Milova taking first place. She was followed by Spain's Marian Hernandez Vellisca and Italian junior Marilù Brambilla.
• The Men's SS2 event saw the duo of Saperdi-Mechili emerge victorious.
• For the Women's SS2 category, the team of Crivici-Kolobova secured the win.

Unified Beach Games Collaboration

A significant new addition to this year's Ohana Mana Cup was its collaboration with the Special Olympics Team Sardegna "Sardinia Unified Beach Games" event. This marked the first time that canoeing was featured, both as an introductory discipline for participants to try and through a K2 match-race demonstration.
