Brazilian dominance at Pan American Canoe Ocean Racing Championships

The Pan American Canoe Ocean Racing Championships, held alongside the seventh Molokabra event, saw host nation Brazil excel. Brazilian athletes achieved a clean sweep of the podiums in both the men's and women's surfski competitions on home waters.

Surfski champions crowned

Alexandre Felipe Nascimento Ferreira and Ariela Cesar Pinto were crowned Pan American champions. Nascimento Ferreira secured the men's title with a time of 6:08:16. The men's podium was a Brazilian sweep, with Ariel Alves de Souza taking silver in 6:19:46, and Marcelo Bosi De Almeida earning bronze in 6:21:19.

In the women's surfski, Ariela Cesar Pinto won gold with a commanding time of 7:47:37. Fellow Brazilians Isabella Scalise (8:24:52) and Carmen Lucia da Silva (8:38:07) completed the sweep for silver and bronze.

Molokabra highlights and OC1 results

The Molokabra event, a rapidly growing surfski and outrigger canoe gathering, attracted 343 athletes from 12 countries. Competitors enjoyed consistent downwind conditions.

Beyond the Pan American titles, other notable achievements from the broader Molokabra competition included:

• Alexandre Felipe Nascimento Ferreira also claimed men's SS1 gold in the Molokabra event.
• Tahiti's Iloha Eychenne clinched the women's SS1 title at Molokabra.
• Anna Mathianse of the United States captured the women's OC1 crown.
• Brazil's Lucas Bender delivered a standout performance in the men's OC1, winning the title and recording the fastest overall time of the event: 1:59:36 over 32 kilometers.
