Asia's canoe ocean racing boosted by new international technical officials

The sport of Canoe Ocean Racing across Asia has recently seen a significant enhancement in its technical officiating capabilities. This development comes as the discipline experiences continuous expansion throughout the continent. During September's Asian Canoe Ocean Racing Championships in Qingdao, China, where over 350 competitors from ten countries vied for top honors, a crucial three-day seminar for International Technical Officials (ITOs) was also successfully conducted. Concurrently with the races unfolding at Shilaoren Beach, the International Canoe Federation's (ICF) Canoe Ocean Racing Committee diligently worked to ensure that only highly qualified individuals would be responsible for making the critical judgments that influence medal outcomes. The comprehensive training program for officials included a theoretical component on the initial day, followed by a practical session on the second, during which participants gained experience in various essential roles. The final day was dedicated to examinations. Ultimately, thirty new International Technical Officials successfully completed their assessments, thereby significantly bolstering the technical expertise available for Canoe Ocean Racing within this rapidly developing region.
