Angie Leroux's life has been intertwined with the ocean since she discovered paddling at 14 in Brest. Her journey includes international competition, motherhood, and a return to racing. Now, 22 years after her first kayak experience, she prepares for the European Ocean Racing Championships, dreaming of a podium finish.
“Paddling truly found me,” Leroux reflects. Growing up in maritime Brest, she joined Le CKB at 14, igniting a profound love for the sea that now defines her life and work. This sport has shaped her, offering strength and a second family built on values like respect and humility. Despite individual surfski racing, she emphasizes its team spirit.
Leroux humbly recounts her career, noting the absence of a World Championship title. Her first "official" World Championships in Porto in 2013 yielded a U23 silver medal, confirming her potential.
She also cherishes her third-place finish at the 2021 European Championships, achieved after returning to competition post-maternity leave. Sharing this comeback with her family remains a wonderful memory, as do her global World Cup experiences.
Leroux, now based in Clohars-Carnoët and paddling with CKCQ, focuses on Ocean Racing. The European Championships are particularly significant, marking her return to Brest, where her paddling journey began over two decades ago.
