The Doctor (Perth, Western Australia)

Australia's premier ocean paddling event. It is a 27-kilometer downwind sprint from Rottnest Island across the ocean to Sorrento Beach on the mainland. The race is famous for the "Fremantle Doctor," a consistent and powerful sea breeze that creates arguably the best and most highly contested downwind surfing conditions in the world.

The Best Athletes:

 * Cory Hill (Australia): The master of downwind paddling, with numerous victories at The Doctor.

 * Tim Jacobs (Australia): A legendary Australian paddler who has claimed the title multiple times against stacked international fields.

 * Jasper Mocke (South Africa): One of the few international paddlers to consistently break the Australian dominance on their home turf.

* Jemma Smith & Georgia Laird (Australia): Phenomenal modern athletes who have dominated the women's field in recent years.
